2020-11-18 City Council Item No. 7 Public Comment - Chavez Regular MEETING - Additional Meeting MaterialsFrom:D Chavez To:Lesa Sobek Cc:Public Comments Subject:Development in the area of Leon x Garboni, Menifee Date:Tuesday, November 17, 2020 2:28:55 PM [CAUTION]: This email originated from outside of the organization. Councilwoman Sobek, we were instructed by Stephanie Roseen to write our concerns so they may be brought up at tomorrow's Council meeting. We have been residents of Menifee for ten years in the area of Leon x Scott Road. During that time we have seen construction in the city of menifee increase. It wasn't a concern before because it didn't effect us. But now, the high school is going up a mile from us and housing tracts, along with multiple housing tracts on the west and east side of Leon Road. We moved and retired in this community because we had multiple opportunities to ride our horses without any danger. All the areas we ride within a five mile radius of our home are being developed or will soon be developed. It also appears that the wildlife in these areas have been greatly affected to include hawks, burrowing owls and coyotes, to name a few. We have posted our frustrations on social media and received numerous Responses from neighbors and community members in the area. All of them share the same concerns; that menifee is becoming nothing more than a housing development city and the rural/ranch citizens are being pushed out. It reminds us of the infamous tv series called "Yellowstone " where money and greed comes at the sacrifice of the citizens. Many have chosen to leave this type of environment and moved to places like Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, but some have chosen to stay and recall political promises of horse trails and preserves once development began. We speak for many in the community and are very sad and unhappy with this development . We wish to meet and discuss with those in charge to learn the following: 1-what is the ultimate developmental plan for this area? 2-what, if anything, is the City doing to consider the livelihood of the rural citizens of this area? 3-how is the environment being protected? 4-if none of this can be stopped, what is the City willing to do to right the wrongs? We look forward to hearing from you. Edward & Donna Chavez 909 841-9545 EdwardChavez015@gmail.com -- Donna Chavez
