Background
•Council discussion to adopt local Ordinance
•Council decided to stay with state limit
•State limit was $7,800
•Cities could only adopt limitations that were stricter
New Legislation (AB 571)

•Applies to candidates for county or city offices
•Sets Limitations for a candidate at $4,700 per election
•Amount updated every 2 years by FPPC
•Proposed $4,900 for 2021-2022

•Does:
•Amends State contribution limits for candidates for city
elective offices to $4,700
•Allow the City to adopt their own contribution limits
•FPPC will not enforce. City will have to enforce.
•Enacts additional regulations relating to campaign
contributions and use and transfer of campaign
contributions.
