2020-10-07 City Council Item No. 7 Public Comment - Estrada Regular MEETING - Additional Meeting MaterialsFrom:Ricky Estrada To:Public Comments Subject:Public Comment - September 30th Date:Wednesday, September 30, 2020 5:52:02 PM [CAUTION]: This email originated from outside of the organization. I am commenting to address the personal attacks Zimmerman and Sobek made at a meet and greet in Sun City. The video is posted on Bob Karwin’s page at 8:25 mark. Never had I ever made any personal comments about or towards any candidates. Any mention of council members have always been on pure policy. As a matter of fact, anytime anyone asks me about the character of council members I mention they are nice people but only have differ views on policy. Which is fair in democracy. Mr. Zimmerman addressed his opponents as not having payed off their homes in the same manner he has. He is twice my age and at 31, it would be unreasonable to expect me to pay off a mortgage. The ability for his generation to get into a home were also different from the current climate. As a matter of fact, plenty of accomplishments individuals never finish paying off a mortgage. The comment had nothing to do with policy and is uncalled for. It was a personal jab. Sobek also mocked my employment status. She mocked whether I had a job or not. As a COVID-19 victim and an employee of the school district, the status of our schooling has been in limbo. At the Menifee 24/7 forum she expressed concerns for anyone affected by COVID. But at the meet and greet with Zimmerman and Karwin mocked a substitute teacher for his struggles affected by COVID. At the beginning of the election candidates were asked to sign an oath to run a clean campaign and not engage in personal attacks. The issues should be on pure policy. I am calling on the city clerk to now look into what a violation of the signed document results in. I do not appreciate personal attacks. Let’s stick to the issues for the city. With all due respect, Ricky Estrada (626)201–1567
