2020-10-07 City Council Item No. 7 Public Comment - Aguilar Regular MEETING - Additional Meeting MaterialsFrom:Rapid River To:Public Comments Subject:Public Comment - September 30th Date:Wednesday, September 30, 2020 5:54:03 PM [CAUTION]: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. I’ve been a resident of Menifee for over 10 years and graduated from MSJC in 2010. I have lived and worked in this city for over 10 years. This is the first time I making a comment. I am doing so because I believe certain things must be addressed. I watched the Menifee 24/7 forum (a group which I am part of) on September 20th 2020 Bill Zimmerman posted a video in which he discussed his own self motivated and personal achievements. I found this information to be irrelevant to the community and to myself as I am a renter in this city. Whether one wants to buy, own, or rent is a personal choice. We all word hard for what we have. I have worked since I have been 16 years old. This is a free country, we can choose how to spend our money and time how we deem fit. As long as my bills are paid, rent or mortgage are paid, utilities paid, why do you Bill Zimmerman feel the need to dictate how people should spend their hard earned money. Also in the background during the same video taping council woman Lesa Sobek questioned “Does he have a job?” Who exactly is she referring to ? And why is this necessary to bring up in comparing candidates? It is my understanding that the position of Mayor is to enhance, enrich, and support the citizens of the city in which they are running for. Why does personal wealth and achievements need to brought into this spectrum? I also watched the candidate forum on September 18th 2020 in which all candidates running for office were allowed to speak and represent what they stand for, and their goals for the city. I personally found it rather disturbing that Lesa Sobek would compare a homeless person to that of an animal , in which she said , “It’s like feeding the bears.” This comparison is despicable and embarrassing! I love the city in which I reside , and am looking forward to the new CHOSEN mayor. Bill Zimmerman was not elected , he was a “ replacement “ I am voting Ricky Estrada . Thank you , Naomi Aguilar - Naomi Aguilar
