Update from Tony LoPiccolo President/CEO of the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce
Good evening Mayor Zimmerman, Mayor Pro Tem Matt Liesemeyer, Council Members Lesa Sobek, Dean
Deines, Greg August, City Manager Armando Villa, Assistant City Manager Jeff Wyman, Directors and
Staff.
I would like to give an update on what the Chamber has been doing during these unprecedented times.
The Chamber is open to serve our membership. We are working mostly remotely, however, I am in the
office 5 days a week and taking appointments to see members and nonmembers. Staff is working
remotely.
The Chamber has continued with our monthly Chats with the Chamber. This is an interview platform
with the President and our local businesses. We have been out visiting our membership and delivering
Mask Up, Menifee posters. Staff and I have delivered masks to our local businesses. Throughout the past
month we have informed our membership about the COVID-19 Business Assistance Grant Program and
assisted The Workforce Development Board distribute surveys regarding their needs during this time.
The Chamber is now part of The Workforce Task Force subgroup called Industry Advisory Group. The
focus of this group is the food and beverage industry. We are a group that meets once a month along
with local businesses that fall into this category and discuss their needs. The Chamber has been part of
the Economic Development Coalition as a non-member. I have submitted my paperwork to be part of
the Member at Large delegation. Members at Large will be selected by the end of August.
On Monday, August 17, 2020 Chamber staff and Councilmembers Greg August and Matt Liesemeyer
along with Mayor Zimmerman visited 6 businesses in each District and handed out masks to these
businesses. On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 Chamber staff and Councilmembers Dean Deines and Lesa
Sobek visited 6 businesses in each District and handed out mask and had the opportunity to spend time
with each of the businesses.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mayor Bill Zimmerman, Mayor Pro Tem Matt Liesemeyer
Council Members Lesa Sobek, Dean Deines and Greg August for taking time out of their day to visit our
local businesses with the chamber.
