To spend an extra $40,000 dollars to ask the same second question twice on the ballot, is a waste of tax dollars. No fiscal
responsibility here.
You are essentially asking the same question twice , only reworded.
This is why there is so many disenfranchised voters in the United States , because misleading wording and hurdles, are
added to their voting experience .
You are creating a scenario where the original repeal measure can pass by over 50 percent, and still not pass , if the
other measure gets the higher percentage .
The city council could not appreciate voter enthusiasm and voter petition efforts, with adding this extra hurdle to the
ballot .
It appears by council not wanting to quote , un‐quote, “take a chance” of the petition passing , the council did not want
to take a chance, of the republic, and democracy of the city speaking .
The city will really need that extra $40,000 dollars from Measure DD in the general fund, especially with asking the
same question twice .
Also using fear entangled wording on the ballot, such as saying “cuts to seniors , disabled , and safety” is misleading .
The truth is cuts can come from anywhere else in a $60 million dollar general fund.
Voter participation is at very low rates. Millennials and all our sons and daughters are disenfranchised and discouraged
from the voting process , because they feel like their voices don’t really matter .
Creating an affirmation hurdle to the ballot is another example of the establishment and previous generations making
the whole voting process unappealing and confusing.
Let the original petition and voter signatures speak for itself .
