I could not find anywhere a link to stream this meeting. In the Release there should have been a link
to the Agenda, instead of making people search the City website.
Agenda Item 5.1. COVID-19 Update
City of Menifee is providing "City of Menifee Questions Service Line (951) 672-9673." This is Kay
Ceniceros Center. The "Exceptionist" knows nothing about COVID-19! After an hour and a half and
three tries I finally extracted that the only service Menifee is providing is drive-up meals to Seniors.
Who learned about this program because they were already "registered" at the Center. In order to
register you need to physically go to the Center - which is closed! This is not shared with the general
Senior population in Menifee.
On the City of Menifee website, Mayor Zimmerman essentially says we are on our own - "neighbors
helping neighbors." That is what Menifee does. Any other COVID-19 issues are referred to the County
or to dial 211 - which screens you for the Riverside County Health Department. Or provides links to
other resources.
I finally got to speak to the City Clerk. She actually interrupted me and told me she was too busy to
speak with me. I shared with her the City of Menifee needs to dedicate the same amount of effort
and resources as they do to the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival!
I am finding City of Menifee is unprepared, inexperienced and unconcerned. I do not feel that the
City of Menifee is meeting it's obligation to keep our population informed, safe and/or adequately
included in the monetary benefits being allocated to provide for our citizens. ESPECIALLY our
vulnerable Seniors!
Governor Newsom included them in his top three priorities.
Passing everything off to the 211, or County links is not helpful. It should not take the better part of
a day to navigate the labyrinth of misinformation and inadequate announcements. None of you know
what the other is doing. Nor do you know anything about who you're telling people to contact, or
what happens when they do.
May as well be on the Merry-Go-Round at Griffith Park. Which BTW doesn't exist any more!
This is NOT Menifee Better, and certainly not BEST!
