Councilman Deines good morning. With regards to trucking servicing the warehouses I didn’t know if the
Council was aware that due to pressure from the American Trucking Association, the Federal Motor
Carriers Safety Administration passed new law, published in the Federal Register Notice that as of
January 14, 2022 now 18, 19 and 20 year olds can get CDL’s. This was lobbied because of the lack of
drivers that major interstate carriers are having hiring drivers.
We both know that exit/entrance ramps at Freeways servicing the proposed warehouses will will not be
constructed by CalTrans for many, many years due to funding.
That means we will have 18, 19 and 20 year old kids driving 60 foot long, 80k pound trucks using
Ethanac Road, Newport Rd and Scott Road off-ramps daily to get to service streets. Not only is
Domenigoni Parkway very congested now, how about the two lane existing bridge at Ethanac and Scott.
CalTrans will be years in the future widening those bridges. That means a great portion of trucks will use
Newport ramps and Haun Road.
That means the citizens of Menifee will caught in the mess of kids driving large trucks through local
streets serving the large shopping area on Haun Road. I could go on and on as a retired Teamster with
almost 2 million miles under my belt but you get the problem we residents will face.
Please vote to not allow the mega warehouses to be constructed along I-15.
Thank you for your consideration.
