2021-10-20 City Council Item No. 12.1 Public Comment - Jackson REGULAR MEETING - Additional Meeting Materials Item No. 12.1 Mayor and Councilmembers: My name is Jim Jackson and I am a resident of the Calder Ranch Community. I purchased my home in 2018. Recently it was brought to my attention that the developer of this track, Capitol Pacific, was supposed to repair our streets that came as a result of their negligent work. Unfortunately, the City was powerless to hold them accountable and make them fix the bad work. Time went on and the City made a settlement agreement with the developer and they were supposed to finally fix our streets. My understanding from talking with other neighbors, is that the fix was STILL only a band aid fix and not REALLY the repair work needed to make the roads right. Whatever the case, the agreement has been broken because the developer NOW STATES that they can’t do the repairs. Last month the City agreed to let it go and Capitol Pacific was supposed to pay the City $60,000 to let the City fix the roads. Good Luck with that. If what we have seen from them in the past is any indication of how they intend to make good on THIS promise, I won’t hold my breath. IF AND WHEN the City gets the $60,000 how do we go about getting the City to complete this work? How do we know the money won’t just go into the City coffers and never come back here where it was supposed to? Do we just wait and see if the City fixes the roads or do we now have to wait in line behind 100’s of other projects all over the city....becoming low priority…we all had hoped the City would take care of this and we would not be lost in the shuffle. We were promised our roads would be fixed. The City made a deal with this developer now they’re letting them off the hook and we’re the ones suffering! Please right this wrong. Most of us pay over $10,000 a year in taxes for little to nothing. Yes, some goes to bonds and other things besides the City but we all work hard to keep our neighbor looking great, but the roads are junk. Some of our streets are crumbing every time the street sweeper comes through and it's only getting worse. On another street, the cracks are so wide, a neighbor’s little girl was riding her scooter and the wheel got stuck in the crack and she crashed. The crack is over 1” wide. Please help our neighborhood. Jim Jackson Tramore Circle
