21-1062RESOLUTION NO. 21-1062 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA, FORMALIZING PUBLIC SAFETY REPORTING WHEREAS, at the August 4, 2021 regular City Council meeting, City Council discussed the Public Safety reporting background and evolution, the purpose and intent of Public Safety reporting, and preferred strategies for providing going -forward reporting on Public Safety items; and WHEREAS; on August 4, 2021, City Council defined the purpose and intent of Public Safety reporting as follows: "The purpose and intent of public safety reporting is to review critical safety indicators and trends to assist in the development of general policies and service levels that will continue to enhance the quality of life in the community with full transparency in our ongoing effort to becoming one of the safest cities"; and WHEREAS, on August 4, 2021, the City Council directed that future reporting on Public Safety issues occur as follows: (1) quarterly oral reports will be provided at alternating City Council meetings by the Menifee Police Department (Menifee PD) (to include Code Enforcement) and CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department (Fire Department) (excluding the Office of the Fire Marshal), and (2) Monthly reports/trend updates from Menifee PD and Fire Department will be provided as Consent Calendar receive and file items. and WHEREAS, this resolution memorializes and formalizes the direction provided by the City Council at its August 4, 2021 meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Menifee resolves as follows. Section 1. The purpose and intent of public safety reporting is to review critical safety indicators and trends to assist in the development of general policies and service levels that will continue to enhance the quality of life in the community with full transparency in our ongoing effort to becoming one of the safest cities. Section 2. Quarterly oral reports shall be provided at alternating City Council meetings by the Menifee Police Department (to include Code Enforcement) and CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department (excluding the Office of the Fire Marshal). Section 3. Monthly reports/trend updates shall be provided from Menifee Police Department and CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department as consent calendar receive and file items. Section 4. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this Resolution is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Resolution, and each and every section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not declared to be invalid or unconstitutional, without regard to whether any portion of the Resolution would subsequently be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
