Good evening Mr. Mayor and City Council:
I attended the False Burglar Alarm Ordinance virtual event yesterday sponsored by the City of Menifee’s Economic
Department and the Menifee Police Department. Captain Gutierrez’s presentation outlined the MPDs call to service on
this issue.
By having the businesses and residents, that utilize a burglar alarm system, register with Menifee Police Department
would put the onerous on the user to keep their contacts up to date. Having the businesses alarm company information
and their own information updated will assist the Menifee Police Department in concluding their call to service. Along
with the registration, a fee would be instituted for the permits to off set some of the cost associated with a false alarm.
We as a community want to make sure we are using our public resources correctly. It was astounding that less than 1%
of the calls were found to be legitimate.
As a private citizen and resident of 5 years I would encourage City Council to approve this Ordinance.
Thank you
Tony LoPiccolo
Respectfully,
