PUBLIC WORKS / ENGINEERING UPDATE:
1. City project to overlay streets in Quail Valley neighborhood west of Goetz. City
will also evaluate neighborhoods to improve signage and striping to meet current
standards. City to hold meeting with neighborhood.
2. Active Transportation Plan consultant selection process is underway. This
project is funded by a grant and will engage the community and develop a master
plan for bikeways, pedestrian improvements, and NEV lanes. The project is large
is scope and will cover the entire City. This study is expected to take 20 months.
3. Caltrans Highway 74 raised median project out to bid. This is a $23 million
project that is expected to take 18 months. City staff met with Caltrans to discuss
traffic access issues associated with the raised median. Caltrans will work with
City on potential signalization of Hwy 74/3rd Street and Hwy 74/Tradewinds to
provide for safe vehicle and ped access across Hwy 74.
4. Murrieta paving and striping changes plan developed and staff to meet with
adjacent commercial properties to get input.
5. Working with EA Chase Middle School and Paloma Valley High School to
address several traffic and pedestrian safety issues.
6. Plans for traffic signals at McCall/Oakhurst-Hospital and Murrieta/Park City are
at 100 percent design stage and are being prepared to go out to bid.
7. Haun/Newport Towne Center raised median and traffic signal construction is
underway.
8. Newport/Antelope traffic signal modification plans are being prepared to improve
traffic flow. NB right will be modified to a double right turn lane with green arrow
phasing. SB left will be modified to create an additional lef t turn lane.
9. Working with City of Canyon Lake on concerns about traffic signal phasing at
Goetz/AMR South.
10. Signal at Normandy/Audie Murphy has been changed from flashing red to
normal operation.
