3. SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS:
• 09/26/2017 One chief officer, one engine, one truck and one urban search and rescue unit responded to a residence at the
26000 block of Apple Creek Road to assist the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Office of the removal of a
deceased person. The operation was extensive and required wall removal and box building to facilitate the removal of the
person.
• 09/22/2017 One chief officer, five engines and one truck responded to a reported commercial structure fire at the 27000
block of Newport Rd. The first unit arrived and reported 10 storage units with smoke showing and three units involved with
fire. The fire was quickly contained to the three units.
• 09/21/2017 One chief officer, five engines and one truck responded to a reported residential structu re fire at the 29000
block of Greenhill Dr. The first unit arrived and reported a single-family dwelling with heavy smoke and fire from the garage.
An aggressive and quick fire attack contained the fire to the garage. Red Cross responded for occupant displacements.
• 09/15/2017 One chief officer and five engines responded to a reported wildland fire on Matthews Rd at BP Holland. The first
unit arrived and reported a 100’ x 100’ debris and mulch pile on fire. Quick action by engine companies was initiated to
protect additional debris piles from igniting on fire and to gain containment on the main fire. The fire was contained and
property released back to the onsite manager to continue mop up and overnight operations.
• 09/09/2017 One chief officer and one engine responded to a reported wildland fire at the 26000 block of Sun City Blvd.
Upon arrival, the first unit found a 20’ x 4’ spot of smoldering grass that was started from an active arcing powerline that
failed from the transformer. The initial line drop caused a power outage to homes in the area. The fire and electrical hazards
were mitigated. Area residents have been advised.

• Santa Rosa Academy Car Show and Relay. Provided hands only CPR instruction to 60+ contacts
Station Tours:
• Fire Station 68 with 6 contacts
• Fire Station 76 with 25 contacts
Other Events:
• Relay for Life Chili Cook Off 40+ contacts
Defensible Space inspections:
• Fire Station 5 conducted 10 weed abatement inspections and 10 re-inspections
5. Training:
• Week of Sept 3 Pumping operation with multiple handlines
• Week of Sept 10 Initial attack hose deployment and management
• Week of Sept 17 MDH deployment and management
• Week of Sept 24 MDH deployment for high rise operations
