RESOLUTION NO. 08-38 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MENIFEE, CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING CITY HOLIDAYS WHEREAS, Govt. Code Sections 6700 et seq provide that the City Council of the City of Menifee shall designate by resolution City holidays when the public offices of the City will be closed for the transaction of business. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Menifee does resolve and order as follows: Section 1. Legal City Holidays Adopted. The following holidays are designated as City holidays and the public offices of the City will be closed for the transaction of business on these days: (a) Every Saturday and Sunday. (b) January 1st. (c) The third Monday in January, known as "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day." (d) The third Monday in February known as "Presidents' Day." (e) The last Monday in May, known as "Memorial Day." (f)July 4,known as "Independence Day." (g) The first Monday in September known as "Labor Day." (h) Second Monday in October, known as "Columbus Day." (h) November 11th, known as "Veterans Day." (i)Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following it. Q) December 25,and the day before or after as determined by the City Manager based upon the day of the week on which December 25 falls; (k) December 31 from noon. (k) National holidays declared by the President or as otherwise adopted by the City Council. Section 2. Alternative Days. If January 1 st, February 12th, March 31 st, July 4th, September 9th, November 11th, or December 25th falls upon a Sunday, the Monday following is a holiday for the City. If November 11th falls upon a Saturday, the preceding Friday is a holiday for the City. Section 3. Non-legal Holidays. In addition to the legal holidays designated, the City Council or City Manager may provide for one floating holiday per year as an employee benefit.
