The electrical continuity is achieved through three (3) main features: • Stainless steel bonding pins inserted into specific contact surfaces between components • Mill finishes on specific components to reduce electrical resistance • Fasteners selected for improved bonding capabilities Because these features are difficult to identify once a system is installed this bulletin provides guidance on how to visually identify the Series 100 UL and 200 UL against other SnapNrack mounting solutions. Packaging Identification l Ur SnapNrack's primary recommendation for identifying a Series 100 UL or 200 UL system is to check the i IIJLIfAII` component packaging. Since the individual components " urvao Y do not bear the UL label the packaging is intended to ++* be the main identifier. It should be noted that Snap- , In Grounding Lug is stamped with the "GR" symbol, and no other components are marked with this symbol 1 _ as specified in UL Subject 2703, Section 8.4. This (Duna ; packaging should be kept on site and made available to inspectors to ensure there are no questions whether the — - components installed are part of the UL Listed system. Figure Figure 1 shows a typical package of twenty (20) Bonding Universal End Clamps bearing the UL Listing label. Boxes and other SnapNrack product packaging will bear the same UL Listing label for all Series 100 UL and 200 UL components. Product Identification The primary feature providing an electrical bonding path between components is a stainless steel pin installed on A some of the mating surfaces. A mounting system being installed with these bonding components will identify a Series 100 UL or 200 UL installation. Figure 2 shows the bonding pins installed at the contact surface of the Bonding Universal End Clamp on the right, j and the lack of pins in the non-bonding Universal End Figure 2 Clamp on the left. Since these pins are between mating surfaces of the Series 100 UL and 200 UL components it will be difficult to use these features as an identifier for installed mounting systems. The additional SnapNrack bonding components can be found in the SnapNrack UL Conversion Sheet. Figure 3 shows a feature of the Bonding Mid Clamp that can be used to identify a Series 100 UL or 200 UL system after the installation. The Bonding Mid Clamp has an open channel for the module spacer whereas the non- bonding Mid Clamp has a closed hollow feature. Also, non-bonding Mid Clamps will typically have a WEEB or similar grounding washers to bond the module to the rail. Since the UL 2703 Listing supersedes the requirement for J additional grounding washers they are not required on the Series 100 UL and 200 UL systems. The calculations have been performed in accordance with the 2012 International Building Code(IBC). The racking system has been designed to withstand code-prescribed forces due to its own weigbt, the weight of the solar panels, the snow loads, and both the wind and seismic forces. Rail Spans This report covers two different material options for the system rails. Although they are both aluminum, one rail option uses a 6063 alloy(25 ksi yield)and the other uses a 6005 alloy(35 ksi yield). Despite having different yield strengths, both types of rails support the PV panels. As for the rails themselves, they are supported by mounting hardware which attaches them to the roof structure with spans that are expressed in inches. Refer to the tables below for rail spans under varying conditions of rail alloy and roof height. Shaded cells require an edge zone adjustment(see details following charts). Notes for Tables 1A thru 2H 1. Detennine the mean roof height, tilt angle, and rail alloy (if you are unsure, use the 6063 alloy values). For mean roof heights less than 30 feet, use Table IA/2A for tilt angles less than 19 degrees,Table 1 B/2B for tilt angles between 20 and 36 degrees,Table 1C/2C for tilt angles between 37 and 45 degrees, and Table ID/21) for tilt angles between 46 and 60 degrees. For mean roof heights between 31 and 60 feet use Table IE12E for tilt angles less than 19 degrees, Table IF/2F for tilt angles between 20 and 36 degrees,Table IG/2G for tilt angles between 37 and 45 degrees, and Table 1H/2H for tilt angles between 46 and 60 degrees. 2. Determine the wind and snow load for the project site from the building department. Make certain to use 2012 IBC wind loads. Locate the wind load in the table across top rows and the snow load down the left columns to find corresponding maximum rail span. 3. For snow loads, column Pg equals the ground snow. 4. These charts serve as quick references for looking up maximum rail spans based on the building and site conditions. However, it must be noted that for any building where a topographic factor is applied (e.g. bills, mesas, seashore),the rail span lengths given might exceed what is allowed for the given site condition. Jr. that case, a registered structural engineer shall evaluate the exact topographic conditions for the specific site. End Zone and Edge Distances The edge zones and/or end zones of the roof area shall be determined based on the building's least horizontal dimension(LDH). The edge zone,"a", is equal to 10%of the LDH where a= .1 * LDH. It should be noted that if the solar panels installed cross two different roof sections, the smaller LDH shall be used. Rail spans in the comer zone shall be a maximum of 24 inches and this restriction will only apply to the rail attachments located in the end and edge zones (does not apply to modulus or rails that overhang into the zone). Furthermore, all edge zones requiring an adjustment (shaded cells in chart) shall be reduced by 24 inches to a minimum of 32 inches. 1wrxrooar: O Y ` "J G J I G O L LCORNER%ONE 'a Detail 1 roof end/ed a and corner zones NSSE 5022 Sunrise Boulevard Fair Oaks CA 95629(916)536-9585 Rev. 1 213 120 1 3 Page 15 LEGEND AND ABBREVIATIONS TABLE OF CONTENTS SCOPE OF WORK GENERAL NOTES EPAGE DESCRIPTION • SYSTEM SIZE:330OW DC, 3000W AC • ALL WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH 2O13 CEC,2013 CBC, MUNICIPAL CODE,AND SE SERVICE ENTRANCE SOLAR MODULES COVER SHEET • MODULES: (12) REC SOLAR: REC275TP ALL MANUFACTURERS' LISTINGS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
