Structural review of the attached structural notes from Zilla Phantom for
the roof connection mounting system for a 2/12 - 6/12 roof slope.
Job Site Conditions:
Trussed roof connection
1/2" CDX Plywood roof sheathing
Concrete tile roofing material with 3O1b base sheet
Wind zone C - 110 mph wind load
Use of Zilla Phantom mounting system for this specific project is acceptable
based on the attached structural notes provided the following conditions are
met:
1. Existing sheathing nailing is edge nailed at 6" on center at edges and
12" on center in the field with 8d nails.
2. Install 2 galy. deck screws @ 12" on center on all plywood edges below
new solar panels
3. Install 5/16" x 6" gale. hanger bolts - 2 for each solar panel through
roof truss or into 2x6 blocking attachment at each end of the roof
trusses - embed 3" min @ each location
4. Mounts are to be placed as indicated in UNIRAC racking layout on sheet
(4)
5. Roof attachment per lag pull-out detail on sheet (4)
6. Blocking 2'x6' shall be installed at all mounts that are within 3' of any
roof edge
7. Roof fastening detail and spacing are on pages 2 of Zilla Phantom
install manual
8. Install per 2013 California Building Code (CBC)
