Subject: Le Roof Mounted Solar Array JUN 0 3 2014 26795 Lazy Creek Rd Received 9 Menifee,CA 92586 R e c e o ve d Caimm Engineering Job No 14-308 Roof Mounted Solar Array Structural Certification The solar array to be mounted on the above referenced residence has been evaluated and found to be in compliance with the 2013 California Building Code(CBC).The existing roof structure has been found to be capable of supporting the additional dead load of the panels as well as additional loads identified in Chapter 16 of the 2013 CBC.Furthermore, the attachment method has been found to be capable if resisting the wind loads determined by Chapter 16 of the 2013 CBC. Both engineering calculations and rational method was used to examine the installation of the new solar array on the existing roof.Following is a description of the methods used for the analysis. OF NO • The equipment(PV panels)eliminates the probability of people walking on the roof within the LDOG V PQQ 0 equipment footprint thereby effectively eliminating the live load in the area of the equipment. LPN Since the design live load under 2013 CBC for a roof is 20 psf and the worst case equipment weight Q of 2.82 psf,it is my professional opinion that the existing roof system, designed for a minimum of Vv 20 psf live load can handle the additional worst case dead load of 2.82 psf. Ev` • The same wind load can be expected for the solar array as with the original roof structure as the pitch of the array is the same as the original roof pitch.Uplift on the panels has been analyzed to adequately transfer uplift forces through the attachments to the roof structure. aQPtOVa\o Cut sheets of the proposed equipment and calculations have been provided with this correspondence. \o0 \°deoj if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me at 530-478-9500.
